Target Information
CT47 (Cancer/Testis Antigen Family 47) is a 288 amino acid protein strongly expressed in testis and weakly expressed in placenta and brain.
The CT47 gene is located on the human X chromosome, which contains about 153 million base pairs and nearly 1,000 genes.
Abnormal numbers or combinations of sex chromosomes can lead to conditions such as:
- Klinefelter’s syndrome (extra X chromosome with Y)
- Turner’s syndrome (single X chromosome)
- Triple X syndrome (more than two X chromosomes without Y)
Other X-linked conditions include color blindness, hemophilia, and Duchenne muscular dystrophy, which occur more frequently in males due to their single X chromosome.
