Target Information
Nuclear factor kB p65 (NF-κB p65) is encoded by the RELA gene on chromosome 11 in humans. Also known as RelA (v-rel avian reticuloendotheliosis viral oncogene homolog A), it belongs to the Rel family of proteins. NF-κB p65 forms a heterodimer with p50 or p52 subunits and plays a key role in transcription of immunoglobulin κ (kappa) gene in mature B-lymphoid cells.
TNF-α binding to its receptor activates IKK, which phosphorylates IκB, leading to its proteasomal degradation and subsequent NF-κB activation.
