Target Information
Toll-like receptors (TLRs) are signaling molecules that recognize microbial products during infection and link innate and adaptive immune responses. These proteins act through adaptor molecules such as TIRAP and MyD88 to activate kinases and transcription factors.
In TIRAP-deficient mice, TLR2 signaling (via TLR1/TLR6) is abolished, indicating that MyD88 and TIRAP are both required for TLR2 signaling. Such mice are resistant to LPS toxicity and show defects in NF-κB and MAP kinase activation, suggesting TIRAP involvement in TLR4 signaling.
