Target Information

CCL19, also known as MIP-3β (Macrophage Inflammatory Protein 3 beta), is a member of the CC subfamily of chemokines. It shares 32% sequence homology with CCL21 and is mainly expressed by stromal cells in T cell-rich lymph node zones.
CCL19 and CCL21 mediate homeostatic trafficking of naive T cells and activated dendritic cells into secondary lymphoid organs and play roles in T cell priming, activation, and lymphocyte recruitment to inflamed tissues.
Both signal via the G protein-coupled receptor CCR7, expressed on T cells and mature dendritic cells. Notably, only CCL19 binding induces CCR7 desensitization and internalization.
