The NDRG4 gene belongs to the N-myc downregulated gene family, part of the alpha/beta hydrolase superfamily. The encoded cytoplasmic protein may regulate mitogenic signaling in vascular smooth muscle cells. Several alternatively spliced transcript variants have been described, though some full-length forms remain undetermined.
