Target Information
The SOX3 gene encodes a member of the SOX family of transcription factors involved in embryonic development and cell fate determination. The encoded protein may function as a transcriptional regulator through complex formation with other proteins. Mutations in this gene have been associated with X-linked mental retardation accompanied by growth hormone deficiency.
