Target Information

EXOSC7 is a non-catalytic component of the RNA exosome complex with 3’→5’ exoribonuclease activity, involved in multiple RNA processing and degradation pathways.
In the nucleus, it participates in maturation of stable RNAs (rRNA, snRNA, snoRNA), elimination of RNA by-products, and degradation of defective mRNAs.
It may contribute to Ig class switch recombination (CSR) and somatic hypermutation (SHM) by guiding AICDA activity.
In the cytoplasm, it mediates general mRNA turnover and degradation of unstable mRNAs with AU-rich elements (AREs) and histone mRNAs.
The Exo-9 core complex serves as a scaffold for catalytic subunits and accessory proteins, facilitating RNA binding and processing.
