Product Specific Information

  • Reconstitute in 100 µL of sterile water.
  • Centrifuge to remove any insoluble material.
  • Specificity: CRP.

Target Information

CRP (C-reactive protein) is a major cyclic, pentameric acute-phase protein consisting of five identical, noncovalently bound, nonglycosylated subunits. Each subunit is composed of 206 amino acids with a molecular weight of approximately 24 kDa.
CRP is produced by the liver and its plasma levels rise dramatically during inflammatory processes. It initiates the classical complement cascade, binds nuclear components (chromatin, histones, etc.), and plays a crucial role in innate immunity.
CRP levels can increase 100–1000 fold in response to injury, infection, or inflammation. It acts as an opsonin, activates monocytes/macrophages, and binds nuclear components such as chromatin and snRNP, suggesting a scavenger role during cell necrosis.
Elevated CRP levels are associated with increased risk of hypertension and cardiovascular disease.
