Target Information
Caspase-1 (CASP1) is a thiol protease that cleaves IL-1β between Asp and Ala, releasing the mature cytokine involved in inflammatory processes. CASP1 plays a key role in pathogen defense, activates sterol regulatory element-binding proteins (SREBPs), and promotes apoptosis. Upon inflammasome activation during DNA virus infection, CASP1 regulates antiviral immunity through cleavage and inactivation of CGAS.
