Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor family and acts as a receptor for prostaglandin F2-alpha (PGF2-alpha), a potent luteolytic agent. It may play roles in modulating intraocular pressure and uterine smooth muscle contraction. Mouse knockout studies suggest PGF2-alpha interaction with this receptor initiates parturition and luteolysis. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
