Target Information
The constitutive transport element (CTE) of type D retroviruses serves as a signal for nuclear export of unspliced viral RNAs. TAP (also known as NXF1) mediates export of CTE-containing simian type D retroviral RNAs by direct binding to the CTE. TAP is part of the mRNA export pathway and belongs to the NXF protein family, characterized by a leucine-rich-repeat (LRR) domain and a Nuclear Transport Factor 2 (NTF2)-like domain.
