Target Information

GOLPH3 was initially identified as a peripheral membrane protein localized to the trans-Golgi network, but has also been reported as a mitochondrial protein involved in regulating mitochondrial mass via cardiolipin metabolism. It is implicated in the TOR signaling pathway and acts as an oncogene by enhancing S6 Kinase and AKT phosphorylation in response to growth factor stimulation. Overexpression promotes anchorage-independent growth and proliferation, while siRNA knockdown suppresses these effects, suggesting its potential as a therapeutic target.
