Target Information
C8orf79 (chromosome 8 open reading frame 79), also known as KIAA1456, is a 454-amino-acid protein belonging to the methyltransferase superfamily. It is encoded by a gene located on human chromosome 8p22. Chromosome 8 contains approximately 146 million bases and about 800 genes. Chromosomal translocations involving 8p22 and amplification of the c-Myc gene are associated with certain leukemias and lymphomas, typically indicating poor prognosis. Portions of chromosome 8 have also been linked to schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.
