• For blocking purposes, use a 5% (v/v) solution (1:20 dilution from rehydrated volume).
• Rehydration according to instruction yields 100% serum.
• Restore with 5.0 mL distilled water.
• Centrifuge if not clear after standing for 1–2 hours at room temperature.
• Store at 4°C until opened; may be stored for several weeks undiluted at 4°C.
• After dilution, use within one day.
• To extend shelf life, freeze rehydrated undiluted product in small aliquots at −20°C.

Target Information

Normal sera are non-immune serum samples from various species (goat, human, mouse, rabbit, etc.) containing the usual complement of serum proteins, including immunoglobulins found in healthy animals.
They are used to saturate and block nonspecific binding sites on fixed samples or assay substrates.
When used as an antibody diluent, they provide a native environment for antibodies to function properly without introducing foreign proteins.
Normal serum is commonly used for blocking or saturating generalized binding interactions in immunodetection methods, especially immunohistochemistry (IHC).
It is also useful as a control for testing antibody purification methods.
