Target Information
The CHD3 gene encodes a member of the CHD family of proteins, characterized by chromo domains and SNF2-related helicase/ATPase domains. This protein is a component of the Mi-2/NuRD histone deacetylase complex involved in chromatin remodeling through histone deacetylation. Chromatin remodeling is essential for transcription and other cellular processes. Autoantibodies against CHD3 are found in some patients with dermatomyositis. Three alternatively spliced transcripts encoding different isoforms have been described.
