DTX2는 E3 ubiquitin ligase로 작용하며, 세포 간 신호전달을 조절하는 Notch signaling pathway의 조절 인자로 알려져 있습니다. 발달 단계와 세포 환경에 따라 Notch를 양성 또는 음성으로 조절할 수 있으며, MATCH1에 의한 전사 활성화를 억제함으로써 항신경 활성에 관여할 가능성이 있습니다. 또한 in vitro에서 ubiquitin ligase로 작용하여 Notch 경로를 조절할 수 있습니다.
