This antibody is predicted to react with mouse, rat, dog, and pig based on sequence homology.
Tested in Peptide ELISA: antibody detection limit dilution 1:128,000.

Target Information

Hypermethylated in cancer (HIC-1) was originally identified as a target of p53-induced gene expression. HIC-1 is deleted in Miller-Dieker syndrome (MDS), and its expression is often suppressed in leukemia and various cancers due to hypermethylation and transcriptional silencing.
HIC-1 acts as a putative tumor suppressor protein mediating transcriptional repression. It is ubiquitously expressed in adult tissues and contains five zinc fingers and an N-terminal POZ (BTB) domain.
In other BTB/POZ proteins such as BCL-6 and PLZF, this domain interacts with the SMRT/N-CoR-mSin3A HDAC complex to repress gene transcription. However, HIC-1 does not interact with HDAC complex components, suggesting that its transcriptional repression is independent of the POZ/BTB domain.
