Target Information
In vertebrates, homeobox genes encode transcription factors that are organized into clusters (A, B, C, and D) on separate chromosomes. Expression of these proteins is spatially and temporally regulated during embryonic development.
The HOXA10 gene, part of the A cluster on chromosome 7, encodes a DNA-binding transcription factor involved in gene regulation, morphogenesis, and differentiation. It may play roles in fertility, embryo viability, and hematopoietic lineage regulation.
Alternatively spliced transcript variants and read-through transcription with the downstream HOXA9 gene have been described.
