Target Information
MAVS (Mitochondrial Antiviral Signaling protein) is a mitochondrial membrane protein involved in innate immune response against viral infection. It functions in the IFN beta signaling pathway by recruiting IRF-3 to RIG-I, leading to activation of NF-κB. MAVS interacts with TLR adapter proteins (TRIF, TRAF2, TRAF6) and kinases (IKK-α, IKK-β, IKK-ι). Cleavage by Hepatitis C virus protease allows viral evasion of host immunity. Multiple isoforms of MAVS exist.
