Target Information
This gene belongs to the subfamily of ubiquitously expressed heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoproteins (hnRNPs). These RNA-binding proteins form complexes with heterogeneous nuclear RNA and are involved in pre-mRNA processing, including alternative splicing and polyadenylation.
While hnRNPs are primarily nuclear, some shuttle between the nucleus and cytoplasm. The hnRNP F protein contains three quasi-RRM domains that bind guanosine-rich RNA sequences and is closely related to hnRPH. Multiple alternatively spliced variants encoding the same protein have been identified.
