Target Information
Citrate synthase is a key enzyme in the Krebs tricarboxylic acid cycle, catalyzing the synthesis of citrate from oxaloacetate and acetyl coenzyme A. It is present in nearly all cells capable of oxidative metabolism. The protein is nuclear encoded and transported into the mitochondrial matrix, where the mature form resides.
