Target Information
Hexosaminidase B는 리소좀 효소 β-hexosaminidase의 β 서브유닛으로, GM2 activator protein과 함께 ganglioside GM2 및 N-acetyl hexosamine을 포함하는 다양한 분자의 분해를 촉매합니다. β-hexosaminidase는 α와 β 두 서브유닛으로 구성되며, 각각 별도의 유전자에 의해 암호화됩니다. α 또는 β 서브유닛 유전자 변이는 GM2 ganglioside 축적을 유발하여 GM2 gangliosidoses로 알려진 신경퇴행성 질환을 초래합니다. β 서브유닛 유전자 변이는 Sandhoff disease (GM2-gangliosidosis type II)를 유발합니다.
