Target Information
TRPCs are mammalian homologs of the Drosophila transient receptor potential (trp) protein and function as ion channels mediating capacitative calcium entry into cells.
TRP-PLIK acts both as an ion channel and a kinase, conducting calcium and monovalent cations to depolarize cells and increase intracellular calcium.
Its kinase activity enables autophosphorylation and phosphorylation of other substrates, which is essential for channel function and depends on intracellular ATP.
