이 유전자의 변이는 pseudohypoaldosteronism type II 및 hereditary sensory neuropathy type II와 관련이 있습니다.
WNK1은 전해질 항상성, 세포 신호전달, 생존 및 증식 조절에 관여하며, SCNN1A, SCNN1B, SCNN1D, SGK1을 활성화합니다.
신장은 염, 칼륨 및 pH 항상성에 관여하는 distal nephron 부위에서 WNK1이 발현됩니다.
