Target Information
FBJ murine osteosarcoma viral oncogene homolog, commonly known as Cellular proto-oncogene Fos (c-Fos), belongs to the Fos transcription factor family and is encoded by the C-FOS gene located on chromosome 14.
c-Fos forms a heterodimer with c-Jun to create the Activator Protein-1 (AP-1) transcription factor, which regulates genes involved in signal transduction, cell proliferation, and differentiation.
It is phosphorylated at multiple sites by various stimuli, including growth factors and insulin. The ERK MAPK kinase is known to phosphorylate c-Fos at Threonine 232, regulating its nuclear localization and transcriptional activity.
