SYNPO2 (Myopodin)는 synaptopodin 계열 단백질로, 하나의 PPXY 모티프와 여러 PXXP 모티프를 포함합니다.
이 단백질은 α-actinin과 공존하며 Z-disc에 위치하고, 스트레스 조건에서 핵으로 이동하여 구조적 역할 외에도 신호 전달 경로에 관여함을 시사합니다.
SYNPO2는 calmodulin, α-actinin, smooth muscle myosin과 결합하여 actin 중합을 촉진하며, 세포골격 조직화에 중요한 역할을 합니다.
또한 SYNPO2의 결손은 전립선암의 침습성과 관련이 있으며, 발현 저하 시 세포 이동성과 침습성이 감소하는 것으로 보고되었습니다.
