Target Information

The ubiquitin-proteosome pathway of protein degradation ensures proper cellular protein levels. The ubiquitin-like (UbL) and ubiquitin-associated (UBA) domain-containing protein family is involved in proteosomal degradation.
CIP75 (Ubiquilin-4) interacts with proteins such as Ataxin-1 and Connexin-43, increasing their turnover rate. Overexpression of CIP75 reduces Connexin-43 half-life, while siRNA knockdown has the opposite effect.
CIP75 contains an N-terminal UbL domain interacting with 26S proteosome complex proteins and a C-terminal UBA domain mediating interaction with Connexin-75. At least three isoforms of CIP75 exist.
