EPHB2는 ephrin 수용체 계열에 속하는 receptor tyrosine kinase로, 신경계 발달, 혈관신생, 신경 시냅스 형성과 성숙 등 다양한 생물학적 과정에서 중요한 역할을 합니다. Ephrin 단백질은 구조와 서열 유사성에 따라 ephrin-A (EFNA)와 ephrin-B (EFNB)로 구분되며, Eph 수용체는 리간드 결합 특성과 세포외 도메인 서열의 유사성에 따라 두 그룹으로 나뉩니다. EphB4는 ephrin-B2와 결합하여 혈관 발달에 필수적인 역할을 수행합니다.
