Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the TMEM16 family (anoctamins). Mutations in this gene are associated with autosomal dominant craniocervical dystonia. Cells with these mutations show abnormalities in ER-dependent calcium signaling. In rat models, the ortholog interacts with sodium-activated potassium channels, and gene deletion increases pain sensitivity. Alternative splicing results in multiple isoforms.
