Target Information
The SART1 gene encodes two proteins:
- A nuclear form expressed in proliferating cells
- A cytosolic form expressed in epithelial cancers
The SART1 protein is translated via -1 frameshifting during posttranscriptional regulation, with its full-length sequence not yet published. Both forms are involved in proliferation regulation and possess tumor-rejection antigens capable of inducing HLA-A2402-restricted cytotoxic T lymphocytes in cancer patients.
SART1 antigen may be useful in specific immunotherapy and serve as a diagnostic and therapeutic tool for atopy. It is essential for recruitment of the tri-snRNP to the pre-spliceosome in spliceosome assembly.
