Target Information
STAT6 protein is a transcription factor activated by cytokines, particularly interleukin-4 and IL-13. STAT6-deficient cells show impaired IL-4-mediated functions including Th2 helper T-cell differentiation, surface marker expression, T-cell proliferation, and IgE class switching. STAT6 mRNA is detected in various tissues such as lymphocytes, colon, intestine, ovary, prostate, thymus, spleen, kidney, liver, lung, and placenta.
STAT6 plays a crucial role in Th2 immune responses and IL-4-mediated biological processes, existing naturally in two isoforms: STAT6a and STAT6c.
