Product Specific Information

The SIDI8BEE monoclonal antibody reacts with human and rhesus macaque CD8 beta. The CD8β chain associates with the CD8α chain to form the CD8αβ heterodimer expressed on most thymocytes and peripheral cytotoxic T cells. The CD8 receptor complex binds to MHC class I and plays a role in T cell development and activation.

SIDI8BEE detects CD8β in both CD8αβ heterodimers and CD8ββ homodimers. Cross-reactive with human and rhesus macaque CD8β; other species not tested.

Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis
Applications Tested: Pre-titrated for flow cytometry of human peripheral blood lymphocytes at 5 µL (0.25 µg)/test (100 µL final volume, 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test).

Target Information

CD8B antigen is a cell surface glycoprotein found on most cytotoxic T lymphocytes that mediates efficient cell-cell interactions in the immune system. Acting as a coreceptor with the T-cell receptor, it recognizes antigens presented by MHC class I molecules on antigen-presenting cells. The functional coreceptor can be a homodimer (αα) or heterodimer (αβ). Both chains share homology with immunoglobulin light chains. The CD8B gene encodes the β-chain isoforms, with multiple alternatively spliced variants and a pseudogene on chromosome 2.
