Target Information
CD31 (PECAM-1, platelet endothelial cell adhesion molecule-1) is an inhibitory coreceptor regulating T and B cell signaling via ITIM motifs. It is expressed throughout the vascular compartment, primarily at cell junctions. The N-terminal Ig-like domain mediates homophilic binding, crucial for cell-cell interactions. CD31 functions in integrin-mediated adhesion, transendothelial migration, angiogenesis, apoptosis, immunoregulation, autoimmunity, macrophage phagocytosis, IgE-mediated anaphylaxis, and thrombosis. It is a key regulatory molecule in the vascular system.
