Target Information
Ribosomes are organelles that catalyze protein synthesis and consist of a small 40S subunit and a large 60S subunit, composed of 4 RNA species and approximately 80 distinct proteins. The RPL17 gene encodes a ribosomal protein that is part of the 60S subunit and belongs to the L22P family. It is located in the cytoplasm and has multiple processed pseudogenes throughout the genome. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants, and read-through transcription occurs between RPL17 and the neighboring C18orf32 gene.
