NIT2는 omega-amidase 활성을 가지며, alpha-ketoglutaramate 및 alpha-ketosuccinamate를 각각 alpha-ketoglutarate 및 oxaloacetate로 전환하여 잠재적으로 독성이 있는 중간체를 제거하는 역할을 합니다. 과발현 시 세포 주기의 G2 단계에서 세포 분열을 억제하여 세포의 콜로니 형성 능력을 감소시킵니다.
