Target Information
The product of this gene encodes a microtubule-associated protein predominantly expressed in epithelial cells. These proteins are involved in microtubule dynamics, essential for cell polarization and differentiation. MAP7 stabilizes microtubules and modulates their functions. Studies of the mouse homolog suggest a critical role in spermatogenesis. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
