이 유전자는 초파리의 dunce 유전자와 상동인 네 가지 포유류 유전자 중 하나를 암호화합니다. 생성된 단백질은 3’,5’-cyclic-AMP phosphodiesterase 활성을 가지며, 다양한 세포 유형에서 신호전달 분자인 cAMP를 분해합니다. 서로 다른 프로모터를 사용하여 기능적 단백질을 암호화하는 다수의 대체 스플라이스 전사 변이체를 생성합니다.
