Antibody detects endogenous levels of total Cytochrome P450 3A7.
Target Information
The CYP3A7 gene encodes a member of the cytochrome P450 superfamily of enzymes. Cytochrome P450 proteins are monooxygenases that catalyze reactions involved in drug metabolism and synthesis of cholesterol, steroids, and other lipids.
This enzyme hydroxylates testosterone and dehydroepiandrosterone 3-sulphate, contributing to the formation of estriol during pregnancy. It also metabolizes certain drugs such as aflatoxin B1.
The gene is located on chromosome 7q21.1 within a cluster of cytochrome P450 genes. Transcript variants have been described, although their normal expression is uncertain.
