Target Information
The COPE gene encodes the epsilon subunit of the coatomer protein complex. Coatomer is a cytosolic protein complex that binds to dilysine motifs and associates with Golgi non-clathrin-coated vesicles. It is essential for Golgi-to-ER retrograde transport of dilysine-tagged proteins. The coatomer complex includes alpha, beta, beta’, gamma, delta, epsilon, and zeta subunits. Alternative splicing results in multiple isoforms.
