Target Information
The SSX5 gene encodes a member of the synovial sarcoma X (SSX) breakpoint protein family, which may act as transcriptional repressors. These proteins can elicit humoral and cellular immune responses in cancer patients and are potential targets for cancer vaccine-based immunotherapy. Unlike other SSX genes involved in t(X;18)(p11.2;q11.2) translocations characteristic of synovial sarcomas, SSX5 does not appear to be involved in such translocations. Two transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified for this gene.
