Recombinant human TGF-alpha is a 50 amino acid polypeptide (5.5 kDa) that shares approximately 40% sequence homology with EGF, including six conserved cysteine residues forming three intramolecular disulfide bonds.

Target Information
TGF-alpha is an EGF-related polypeptide growth factor that signals through the EGF receptor and stimulates proliferation of a wide range of epidermal and epithelial cells. It is produced by monocytes, keratinocytes, and various tumor cells.
TGF-alpha induces anchorage-independent transformation in cultured cells. Human, murine, and rat TGF-alpha are cross-species reactive.
TGF-alpha (aa 50) is a growth factor with 33% homology to EGF, binds to EGFR, activates tyrosine phosphorylation of the receptor, and stimulates cell proliferation. It plays a role in tumor initiation by inducing a reversible transformed phenotype.
