Product Specific Information
- For immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
- Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA (pH 9.0) for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
CD14 is a 55 kDa GPI-anchored glycoprotein expressed on mature monocytes, macrophages, and neutrophils. It functions as a multifunctional lipopolysaccharide receptor and can be released into serum in soluble forms. CD14 binds lipopolysaccharide (LPS) in a reaction catalyzed by LPS-binding protein (LBP), playing a key role in immune response modulation. The soluble form (sCD14) discriminates structural differences between LPS molecules and helps neutralize endotoxins. CD14 also binds apoptotic cells, influencing allergic, inflammatory, and infectious processes. Alternative splicing generates multiple transcript variants encoding the same isoform. CD14 dysfunction is associated with diseases such as Mycobacterium chelonae infection and croup.
