Product Specific Information
- Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature (RT).
- Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at RT for 20 minutes.
Target Information
CD14 is a 55 kDa GPI-anchored glycoprotein expressed on mature monocytes, macrophages, and neutrophils. It functions as a multifunctional lipopolysaccharide receptor and is found both in membrane-bound and soluble forms. CD14 binds lipopolysaccharide via lipopolysaccharide-binding protein (LBP) and plays a key role in immune response modulation. Soluble CD14 (sCD14) can distinguish structural variations in lipopolysaccharides and contributes to neutralization of serum lipopolysaccharides. Additionally, CD14 binds apoptotic cells and influences allergic, inflammatory, and infectious processes. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding the same isoform.
Diseases associated with CD14 dysfunction include mycobacterium chelonae infection and croup.
