The Human BDNF Simplex ProcartaPlex Kit measures BDNF protein and is designed to be combinable with other Simplex kits, allowing you to create your own multiplex panel utilizing Luminex xMAP technology for protein detection and quantitation. When combining multiple Simplex kits, only one buffer kit (sold separately) is needed per assay plate regardless of plex size.

About ProcartaPlex Assays for the Luminex Platform

ProcartaPlex immunoassays are based on the sandwich ELISA principle, using two highly specific antibodies that bind different epitopes of a protein to simultaneously quantitate multiple protein targets using a Luminex instrument. These assays require minimal sample volume (25 μL plasma/serum or 50 μL cell culture supernatant) and deliver analyzed results within four hours.

ProcartaPlex assays utilize Luminex xMAP (multianalyte profiling) technology for simultaneous detection and quantitation of up to 80 protein targets in a single small-volume sample. Each bead is internally dyed with specific fluorophores, creating unique spectral signatures identifiable by Luminex detection systems (e.g., Luminex 200, FLEXMAP 3D, MAGPIX).

Similar to a sandwich ELISA, matched antibody pairs identify the target protein. Each bead is labeled with antibodies for a single target, and bound proteins are detected using biotinylated antibodies and streptavidin–R-phycoerythrin (RPE). In contrast to traditional ELISA, ProcartaPlex assays use free-floating bead-conjugated antibodies, enabling higher multiplexing with smaller sample volumes.

ProcartaPlex multiplex panels are available across six species (human, mouse, rat, nonhuman primate, porcine, canine).
