Product Specific Information
- For immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
- Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA (pH 9.0) for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
This gene encodes the light subunit of the ferritin protein. Ferritin is the major intracellular iron storage protein in both prokaryotes and eukaryotes, composed of 24 subunits of heavy and light ferritin chains. Variation in subunit composition may affect iron uptake and release rates in different tissues. A major function of ferritin is to store iron in a soluble and nontoxic state. Defects in the light chain ferritin gene are associated with several neurodegenerative diseases and hyperferritinemia-cataract syndrome. This gene has multiple pseudogenes.
