Target Information

Obinutuzumab is a humanized anti-CD20 monoclonal antibody developed by GlycArt Biotechnology AG and Roche for cancer treatment. It was approved under the trade name Gazyva (US FDA, 2013) and Gazyvaro (EMA, Europe) for:

• Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (in combination with chemotherapy, treatment-naive patients)
• Second-line treatment for follicular lymphoma

Obinutuzumab binds to CD20 on B cells, leading to cell destruction through:

1. Activation of the adaptive immune system
2. Induction of intracellular apoptosis pathways
3. Activation of the complement system
