LRRC26 단백질은 처음에 세포각막(cytokeratin) 관련 단백질로 확인되었으며, 여러 암세포주 및 암 조직뿐 아니라 정상 전립선 및 침샘 조직에서도 발현이 증가된 것으로 보고되었습니다.
LRRC26는 NF-kappaB 활성화를 음성 조절하고 종양 성장 및 전이를 억제하는 역할을 합니다. 또한 대형 칼슘 활성화 K(BK) 채널의 효율을 선택적으로 조절할 수 있습니다.
