Target Information
The LOXL2 gene encodes a member of the lysyl oxidase family, essential for connective tissue biogenesis. It produces an extracellular copper-dependent amine oxidase that catalyzes the initial step in collagen and elastin crosslink formation.
The conserved C-terminal region supports amine oxidase activity, while the variable N-terminal region may contribute to developmental regulation, senescence, tumor suppression, cell growth control, and chemotaxis.
