Target Information
INTU plays a key role in ciliogenesis and embryonic development. It regulates cilia formation by organizing the apical actin cytoskeleton and positioning basal bodies at the apical cell surface, which is essential for proper orientation of elongating ciliary microtubules. It also contributes to cell polarity through its role in ciliogenesis and indirectly affects hedgehog signaling. Proposed as a core component of the CPLANE (ciliogenesis and planar polarity effectors) complex that recruits peripheral IFT-A proteins to basal bodies (PubMed:27158779). [UniProt]
