Target Information
OLFM4 is a 510 amino acid extracellular matrix glycoprotein belonging to the olfactomedin-related protein family and is selectively expressed in inflamed colonic epithelium. It has one signal peptide, six N-linked glycosylation motifs, and forms disulfide-bonded multimers. OLFM4 may have a matrix-related function in differentiation and acts as an antiapoptotic factor by binding to GRIM-19. It is constitutively expressed in certain cancer cells and may serve as a diagnostic marker. OLFM4 also promotes proliferation of PANC-1 cells by facilitating transition from the S to G2/M phase and may mediate cell adhesion through interactions with lectins and cadherins.
